Great Lobster Rolls at a great price Trip Advisor 5 star rating

  5. The zesty lemon pepper lobster roll at The Galley in Naples, Maine is worth a visit! ~30 minutes from Portland.

  6. Just heard about a place called Red Barn in Augusta….looks amazing….Foot long roll,,plus the seafood stew looks absolutely incredible….driving up today to check it out…..gets amazing reviews all across the board!

  7. Claws in Rockpott not on your list – leave it off despite glowing yelp reviews. Lobster there is bland, watery and about 1/3 are legs! They claimed fresh & soft shell – if so then not desirable. Update on Thurston’s in Bernard – generous portions of very flavorful lobster meat – worth a revisit for you.

  8. I can confirm Tracey’s Seafood in Sullivan is still selling two lobster rolls for $10. They also claim 4 oz. of lobster in EACH. Haven’t tried them yet.

Try the Wharf Gallery and Grill, 13 Gibbs Lane, end of the wharf, Corea harbor. Beautiful spot, excellent lobster roll. Seasonal–since 2013.

  9. 3Bouys seafood shanty & grille

3Bouys in York, Me. has the freshest hand picked lobster roll in state hands down, A must stop and try.

  10. Oh yes, Fat Boy in Brunswick. If for no other reason than saying you ate at a place called Fat Boy! (It’s actually quite good but it does make cardiologists cringe.)

  11. Ditto on the Harraseeket Lunch and Lobster in Freeport. My absolute favorite place for a seaside dinner.

Also, in Lincolnville there are two lobster places right on the water (McLaughlin’s and The Lobster Pound) that are adjacent to eat other. Might be worth a visit.

Finally, try Robinson’s Wharf in Southport. It overlooks Townsend’s Gut and the swing bridge, and when we were there they were unloading lobsters right next to our table — it’s seriously fresh.

So many rolls, so little time.

Really enjoyed reading your Maine entries on this icy December day! I love winter but this is making me want summer and a seaside roll!

  12. fantastic blog !! My wife and I many years ago travelled from Austin to attend a family reunion on Moosehead Lake in Maine and hit lobster rolls up the coast and westward from Portland. We found the Dog House’s roll in Newport the winner. A picture is posted on the CH thread under “slowcoooked” http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/871809.

  13. lobster roll guy

Hi Lobster Gal – Love your site & reviews. I’m trying to hit all your hot spots in the fullness of time. Just a heads up – on your “to visit” list I see the Castine Variety. I live in Castine in the summer time and I assume your interest comes from an award-winning lobster roll (Best in Maine) that came from this place when under the fantastic prior management of Ernie & Janice Fitch. Janice did make a killer roll worthy of a special trip. However the current regime in town doesn’t quite have the magic and either they need to step it up a bit or you should just put this wonderful hangout farther down on your to-visit list. It just isn’t what it was 5-7 yrs ago.

  14. Pool St Market Biddeford/Saco

  15. The Lobster Pound – Cape Neddick
Fox’s Lobster House – Cape Neddick

  16. I can say that when we were sailing and stopped by frenchboro, We stopped at the little place at the head of the harbor called “Offshore store” and had one of the best lobster rolls I’ve ever had. She puts it all together on a homemade roll which is incredible. I recommend to anyone sailing out that way to be sure to stop by, It was well worth the trip. They are great at making you feel at home, Thanks again Tammy

  17. If you are ever around MDI you need to go out to frenchboro and get a lobster roll at the “OFFSHORE STORE”. It’s a lobster roll on a “homemade” roll, Overstuffed with lobster that is incredible.

  18. Thanks for the tip on The Fish Net, I had never even heard of Blue Hill. Sounds fantastic, it’s on my summer list now!!

  19. I’m no expert, but the best lobster roll I’ve ever had was at The Fish Net in Blue Hill, ME. I never would have stopped there if it wasn’t recommened by a local. Good call!

  20. Clam Shack in Kennebunkport is the best lobster roll ever. Footbridge Lobster in Ogunquit is also excellent. I would also recommend Fisherman’s Catch in Wells.

  21. Try Harraseeket Lobster Pound at the South Freeport Marina in South Freeport, Maine. While there, check out the battered fried clams. Their food is awesome!!!!!

  22. Charlotte Old Saybrook

Red’s Eats in Wiscassett, Maine. We eat here on our way up to Camden and on our way back every year. My husband has stood in line for as long as an hour…that’s how good they are.

  23. Crosby’s Drive-In
30 St. Route 46, Bucksport ME

  24. Great tip, I didn’t have that one and it sounds great! I’ve tried Trenton Bridge and it’s a great lobster!

  25. I went up to central maine this weekend, and passed by this quaint little place in Augusta called the ‘The Red Barn.” It’s family-owned and local residents love it for its inexpensive menu and fast service. They are also famous for their “Foot-long” lobster roll with over a pound of lobster meat. Yes, you heard me – 1.25lb of lobster meat! I didn’t try it because its was too much for me! But if you’re ever up in that area, make sure to try and blog about it! http://theredbarnmaine.com/

Also, Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound in Bar Harbor is another place to try!
