  1. Liv’s Shack, Old Saybrook

  2. Connecticut lobster is not nearly as good as the rest of New England. I would prioritize Abbott’s, Johnny Ad’s, and The Place (in Guilford)

  4. Lobster Hut…Milford, CT

  5. Lobster Shack, Branford, CT
    Abbott’s Lobster, Noank, CT
    Supreme Seafood, North Branford, CT

  6. Liv’s Oyster Bar at the Coventry Farmer’s Market

  7. My wife and I have ventured all over New England looking for the perfect lobster roll. We have visited many of the same places you have. For us, our standard is just lobster and butter, hot lobster, a bigger roll than a hot dog roll, a setting on the water and a preference for a shacky place. Our vote, so far, by a wide margin is Lobster Landing in Clinton, CT.

  8. It’s been listed already, but Captain Scott’s Lobster Dock has phenominal lobster rolls.

    Also, it’s Liv’s Oyster Bar, not “Liu’s”.

  9. J’s Crab Shack in Hartford is a solid place. I know many colleagues who feel their lobster roll is the best in central CT. I think it fairly good. The only negative is the place is more of seafood market and lacks a bit in ambiance, but the important thing is the lobster roll. Also, wine and decent draft beer are available and reasonably priced.

  10. Oh .. and odd as it sounds, try the lobster roll at the Infinity in Norfolk, CT .. a brioche roll (!) and some of the best onion rings I’ve ever tasted

  11. Westbrook Lobster in Clinton

  12. May I suggest a place right in your back yard you would never think of that makes a very good CT style hot buttered lobster roll, Doogie’s, 2525 Berlin Turnpike, Newington, CT (next to Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse).

  13. I would strike Knapps Landing from the list and go to Uberti’s Fish Market in Stratford instead. Half a fish market, half a take away stand. Hot butter, nothing else, under 15 bucks.

  14. Bruce Old Saybrook

the fifth restaurant on the list above should read, “Liv’s Oyster Bar”. City Fish in Wethersfield CT

  15. Sam The Clam in Plantsville CT has THE biggest and best lobster roll I’ve EVER had–and I’ve had quite a few!

  16. Try Captain Scott’s in New London, CT. It got great reviews in the Boston Globe last year so the crowds have come in masses but, hopefully, by this summer people will have forgotten about it.

  17. I have never had a particularly good lobster roll in Connecticut. The ones I have had tend to have tough meat cut into tiny pieces… Plus celery, which I hate. I have been to Abbotts twice and have found it to be very subpar compared to the lobster rolls in Maine. I’ll have to try some of these places the next time I’m in Connecticut.

  18. Excited to be going there today. I’m not a big fan of the Abbots lobster roll so I’m really looking forward to Fords, thanks!

  19. There’s a small clam shack type place on RT-6 in Bolton CT that a 4 starchef openned up because he got tired of the long hours and fast pace of being that 4 star chef for the big wigs..I think you should try “fays” for their lobster roll ..it’s just a short ho from Munson’s candy

  20. Charlotte Old Saybrook

Check out Lobster Landing in Clinton…yum yum

  21. Before the end of the season you should try Ford’s Lobster in Noank…15 Riverview – Chris makes amazing lobster rolls … as well as Lobster Grilled Cheese! From a local its far better than Costello’s or Abbotts!!! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Fords-LobsterHarings-Marine/118653968158109
