  1. A lobster roll “contest” should be taken with a grain of salt. Many places (especially upscale restaurants) think they should be dressed up. I am Rhode Island born and bred and have been in Eastern Connecticut for more years that I care to say. Lobster roll should be a toasted hot dog or Hamburg roll full of lobster dressed with a bit of mayonnaise and a bit of chopped celery. Not smothered in mayonnaise and no other fancy additions. Lettuce optional. For a hot lobster roll, the meat should be lightly sautéed in just a bit of butter and served on a toasted roll. The roll should not be soaked in butter. Plain and simple is always best.

Me and my husband found this spot last year and their lobster rolls are amazing! They are huge and delicious and you can’t beat the price. Lobster always tastes fresh and the atmosphere can be compared to a night at “cheers”. Very friendly people that make you feel like family. 2 thumbs up and five stars

If you have been to Abbott’s, then you should have been to Fords. Next door and so much better. Try their lobster bomb. Also..Skipper’s Dock is no longer.

  10. Thanks, I have tried about three times now for Guilford Lobster Pound, but I guess I should check their hours better because they have been closed every time. I’ll keep trying!!

  11. Dear Lobster gal,You’ll Have to try the Guilford lobster Pound in Guilford Ct for my best Lobster roll this summer, Diane is the chef and such a sweet person. It is a cute little place all outside on the dock at the city marina. You can bring your own refreshments and have a lovely view of the Guilford Marina. The Lobster Roll was really delicious and stuffed full with great lobster meat and just enough butter and the roll was toasted to perfection. The clear clam chowder was also spectacular. We will be back very soon.
