This place really puts the salad in lobster salad roll. The iceberg lettuce actually comes up to the top of the bread. I know lots of people are into lettuce on their lobster roll, I’m not, but I imagine this one would be a bit much even for the lettuce lovers. It actually tasted like eating a salad. The meat itself was good, tender, tasty, but there didn’t seem to be much of it. There were large chunks of tail and claw and too much mayo. Once I took the test bite, as is, then I got rid of the lettuce and only got a few bites with the right amount of lobster, lots of bread left. The bread was your standard wonder type roll, barely grilled, not even a little crisp. Not my favorite, but there is some tough competition in the MDI area. A note about the restaurant ambiance. I just got takeout from the restaurant, the window was closed. This is one oddly decorated place. It looks like a tag sale of a ton of kitchy junk, toys, chotchkies, all manner of crazy stuff. Mind you, I don’t mean in the charming way that some places decorate with vintage kitch. I mean genuinely cluttered and without any rhyme or reason to it that I could tell, kind of like a reformed hoarder style of decorating. I wish I had taken a photo, but sadly, you’ll have to check it out for yourself, or not. I notice there are no photos of the interior on their website. I’m also noticing that the lobster roll on their website doesn’t even have any mayo, wonder which one I got.
